Io Burgard (b. 1987) is an artist based in Paris and Aubervilliers, whose work focuses on the fluidity of bodies and their mobility in places of passage. A graduate of the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris (2014) and the École des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg (2012), she has been awarded residencies at the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, the Cité International des Arts in Paris and Saint-Ange. She has taken part in group shows both nationally and internationally at Mo.Co, Montpellier, Fr, FRAC Ile-de-France, Paris, FRAC Haut de France, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Fr, galerie Continua, Les Moulins, Fr, Forum Hermès in Tokyo, JPN, Maison Hermès de Séoul, KOR. She has had solo exhibitions at MRAC Serignan, FR, in 2018, CAC Les Capucins in Embrun, FR, in 2020, CAC Ugine, FR, in 2021, CAC La Traverse Alfortville in 2024, and in the galleries Maïa Muller (Paris, Fr) and Lætitia Gorsy (Leipzig, DE). She has also taken part in artistic events at Manifesta (Marseille 2020), the Triennale de Dunkerque (2023) and the Biennale d’Anglet (2024). Her work can be found in the French public collections of the Centre National d’art plastique, the Fonds régionaux d’art contemporain Ile de France and PACA and the Musée d’art contemporain de Sérignan.
